Call to TGNC Artists for Hear THEM Loud

Call to Artists! Submit your Video Audition no later than Tuesday, October 11th, 11:59 pm.

Seeking transgender, intersex, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming artists for a one-night showcase: the 2nd annual Hear THEM Loud: A Celebration of New TGNC Work, presented by Celebration Theatre. The evening is directed by Shaan Dasani (he/they) and produced by Amanda Kruger (they/them).

Artists, this is a night for you to perform YOUR words, YOUR experience, YOUR story. It could be a storytelling piece, an original monologue, an excerpt from a screenplay or script you're writing, poetry, original music, or even dance. Performances should be between 5-8 minutes or so with a focus on celebratory & uplifting pieces. The theme is POWER & JOY (whatever that means to you).

Celebration Theatre, an LA Membership Company, is offering artists $20/hour for about 10-13 hours of time over 4 days in November (Tue 11/1 Zoom Session, Wed 11/9 or Thu 11/10 Rehearsal, Wed 11/16 Tech, Thu 11/17 Performance).

The 90-min show will take place at the Los Angeles LGBT Center's Davidson-Valentini Theatre with a one-time livestream free to the public (deferred SAG-AFTRA New Media Agreement pending). All performers are hired as W-2 contract employees. Given the intimate nature of our working environment and our commitment to the safety of the immunocompromised, an offer is contingent upon proof that the artist is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or qualifies for an exemption. All employees must comply with safety and masking protocols. Please respond only if you're a Los Angeles-based artist able to show proof of full vaccination, comfortable working in a live theatre environment with a masked audience, and if you're available Thursday, November 17th.

How To Submit

Please SLATE with your name, pronouns, type of performance (i.e. storytelling, original song, dance, spoken word, etc), followed by a sample of your piece, no more than 2 minutes. Please name your file as NAME_TYPE OF PERFORMANCE. Please share your video as a link below, which should be an unlisted video on YouTube etc.

While Hear THEM Loud is seeking TGNC artists specifically, please note that Celebration Theatre fosters an expansive casting process that is inclusive to all gender identities, racial identities, ethnicities, and abilities.
