Parnell Damone Marcano (he/him) has been a member of Celebration Theatre since 2008 and served as company manager for the last decade. First appearing on Celebration's stage in the closing cast of Naked Boys Singing in 1998, he has appeared in several productions since becoming a member, including Booty Candy, F**king Men, The Producers, and the theatrical Late Night reality series, America's Next Top Bottom. He has also spread his wings as a producer with shows like, There's A Black Man In The White House, Ring of Keys: A Coming Out Cabaret, the Ovation Award-nominated world premiere musical, The Next Fairy Tale, and Ovation Award-winning, Priscilla, Queen of The Desert.
Parnell has performed on stages all around the world with Motown legends Mary Wilson and Thelma Houston, at several Southern California theaters, as well as originated a role in the Off-Broadway show, The Babies. But he is probably most well known for his role as "Carlton Cruise," an openly gay man on the hit OWN series, "Greenleaf," a role that brought him national attention, and was the topic of several news articles, including Buzzfeed for raising the issue of LGBTQIA+ presence in the church.
Joining Celebration's board of directors feels like a natural progression of his commitment to the company's mission. He remains passionate to contribute to Celebration Theatre's evolution in continuing to present entertaining and thought-provoking work as we move into our fifth decade and beyond!
