WHAT'S YOUR STORY?

If you’re part of our LGBTQIA+ community, “coming out” is stitched into your personal history and quite often remains something we do every day, no matter how long you have been out, loud, and proud. While we all share this experience as a collective, everyone’s story of how they have arrived into themselves is ultimately unique. In honor of National Coming Out Day (10/11), Celebration Theatre presents OUTober, a weeklong festival of live events to spotlight these stories across our beautifully diverse spectrum. Join us for one, two, three, four programs—and if you cannot attend in person, tune in online for our livestreams.

Immerse yourself in the world of 1950s butch/femme bar culture with a staged reading of this rarely seen gem of a one-act play in the Broadwater’s Plunge Bar. At a time when there remain just 21 lesbian bars in the country, travel back in time to a watering hole where queer women could flirt, dance, smoke, drink, and let loose.

Directed by Katie Lindsay | Produced by Kathleen Jaffe

Did You Know? Los Angeles currently offers zero lesbian bars. We will be joined by special guest Angelica Castellanos, co-founder of Hot Donna's Clubhouse, an exciting effort by a new wave of queer women to expand the meaning of "lesbian bar" to create an "all-inclusive space for queer, non-binary, trans and lesbian individuals who want to have fun, explore, and be accepted in a safe space."

Note: The Plunge Bar allows for unmasking while actively drinking beverages; please re-mask between sips!
